coffee company known for its sustainable quality.
Headquartered in Trieste present in more than 140 countries around the world with about 1,300 employees and a turnover of about 600 million euros.
Founded in 1933, by Francesco Illy, he company over the decades has been able to revolutionize and reinvent an industry as by patenting innovative solutions such as pressurizing coffee, renowned for its transport and storage.

The first high-pressure espresso machine the progenitor of today’s espresso machines.
Precisely with this natural vocation for innovation and excellence, the company has decided to project itself further into the future by also adapting its IT infrastructure to the demands of the global market in which it operates.

“The reasons that convinced us to start the cloud journey project are mainly related to TIME TO MARKET, that is, the ever-increasing need to respond adequately to business demands.
It is not only about better managing the workflow to excel in customer service, but also about having an infrastructure adapted to the TECHNOLOGICAL NEEDS of the market. The Internet of Things is now the present, and our R&D department’s push toward Data Analysis is considerable. Thus, it becomes essential to “debunk” our legacy assets in favor of an infrastructure that is more FLEXIBLE, SCALABLE, SECURE and COMPLIANT to international regulations. No less important there is the ECONOMIC aspect. By taking advantage of its full potential, particularly pay-per-use logic, with the cloud, savings can be made in favor of better performance, typically in the context of seasonal workloads and in relation to non-production environments.
Another crucial aspect has been our sensitivity to the issue of ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY and supply chain tracking, which requires us to always be connected and up to the demands of the supply chain, to comply with current regulations and ensure respect and protection of the territories in which we operate.”

New call-to-action

The project involves CLOUD migration of the IT infrastructure with SORINT.lab providing, through a dedicated team 24 hours/7 days a week managed services on the technologies included in the new infrastructure.

In detail, the managed services include: management of physical and virtual systems (Windows/Linux), database administration, storage management, job scheduling, network component management (availability, security and performance), JDE, hardware and software support (Desktop Computers, Laptops, Tablets and Smartphones), user and PDL management, as well as 24/7 support for all previously listed services.
SORINT.lab has created a management team that will address the governance needs of all processes related to “problem,” “incident,” and “change management,” thus ensuring a proper flow of management of daily operations.

We were impressed with SORINT.lab because of:

  • CERTIFICATIONS and REFERENCES.. We personally interviewed some end customers to get their opinions on the services provided by SORINT.lab, and they emerged as excellent with respect to AWS cloud-related skills. They are the only ones in Italy with OLA certification. At the same time they demonstrated excellence on Oracle as well.
  • The OPERATIONAL MODEL. They have been extremely flexible in tailoring the proposal and operating model to our needs such as adopting our ITSM tool and accepting particularly stringent SLAs. In addition, SORINT.lab is providing us with an important garrison at our headquarters in Trieste, which the other tender participants did not provide.
  • No OFF SHORE OUTSOURCING. SORINT.lab does not outsource its services, thus ensuring high quality standards. For a company like ILLY, caring becomes a key quality element.

The above, combined with a flexibility and availability to the client that exceeds those offered by other participants, prompted us to select SORINT.lab for the transformation initiative.”
The work was designed in separate executive phases to ensure business continuity for the company, and to address all the steps necessary for migration in steps.

In detail, the migration involves

In detail, the migration involves
a first phase of network creation, necessary to host the machines with segregation and security purposes.
In the second phase, the machines will be migrated in “lift&shift” mode, so as to create less inconvenience to the customer while ensuring the operation of all applications.
Once the migration phase is completed, it will be possible to activate managed services, implementing the most suitable backup and Disaster Recovery policies based on the region chosen by the customer and industry best practices.
